Our 2021 Red Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon displays layers of dense black fruit. Dark fruit flavors with a touch of cocoa lead to lingering flavors of chocolate covered cherries and a lip-smacking finish. Truly a terroir driven wine with dusty, refined tannins, this beast is big and brawny, yet beautifully balanced.

This Chairman Series wine is made from our best Cabernet Sauvignon block on the estate. It is a bold wine with layers of roasted spiced plum flavors and hints of cocoa, vanilla, and toasty oak on the nose. The lush tannin structure is complemented by smooth acidity that persists long after each indulgent sip. This wine pairs well with prime or short rib, roast beef, venison or pasta dishes with dark meat-based sauces.

The 2021 GEO is a strong tribute to its reputation. Brambly aromas with spice, blackberry, dark fruit, and rich toffee lead to a robust mouthfeel. Rich layers of black and blue fruits coupled with coffee, licorice, and cola linger long after the last sip.

Named for late winemaker Patrick (Pat) Foley, this wine was crafted to embody his bold character, fun-loving personality and relentless spirit. Upon opening, aromas of toasty oak, cinnamon, vanilla, plum and cherry waft from the glass. The robust mouthfeel maintains intrigue as flavors of spicy white pepper, plum, and cocoa powder flow across the palate. Medium tannins and a long finish make this wine an ideal pairing with a hamburger, pizza, or meatloaf and will continue to evolve with proper cellaring for 10 to 15 years.

The 2021 Estate Cabernet Sauvignon captures the pure expression of our unique terroir at Lancaster Estate. The 2019 vintage of Lone Acre Cabernet Sauvignon showcases aromas of plum, cedar, and black pepper. The rich and weighty palate possesses notes of black cherry, spice, and coffee that lead to a long and smooth finish.

Our 2021 Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon opens with aromas of cherry liqueur, plum, strawberry compote and fresh leather. The palate offers cherry kirsch, strawberry preserve, and soft tannins with balanced acidity. The finish is long and elegant with notes of warm spice and carob.

The 2015 Merus is a singularly delicious bottle of wine. Deep dark fruit aromas lure you into the glass. There's a hint of something akin to dark chocolate and cocoa before it opens up to reveal classic black currant and berry syrup aromas. The tannin, acid, and alcohol are in such balance that wine feels sweet, though it is bone dry. A hint of vanilla imparted by the French oak aging lingers on the finish. Decant for one hour to bring forth maximum aromatics and complexity.

The 2019 vintage opens with terroir-driven aromatics of crème de cassis, black cherry, baked plum and all-spice. These aromas carry through to a palate that is well structured and full-bodied, with youthful yet firm tannins. A long echoing finish provides additional notes of dark fruit, earth and toasted oak. PreVail Back Forty entices with a delicious array of intense aromas and flavors including toffee, currants, leather, hints of nutmeg spice, caramel, vanilla, ripe plum, and toasty oak notes. This full-bodied wine has a long, rich finish and smooth, yet structured tannins. 

The 2018 Merus is a dark and powerful wine. Aromas of cassis and blackberry fill the nose, with undertones of vanilla bean, cedar and graphite. A full body and plush velvety tannins fill the mouth with deep flavors of saturated black fruits. Hints of vanilla and a fine grain oak texture from the 100% new French oak aging linger on the finish. Decant for one hour for maximum enjoyment.

Cabernet Sauvignon has a reputation for its layers of dark, rich flavors and our 2021 is an excellent representation of that. This wine opens with aromas of leather, fig, plum jam, vanilla bean, mocha and notes of white pepper. Napa Valley’s wine history is deeply rooted in the California Gold Rush (1848–1855) and the prosperity-seeking pioneers who settled around San Francisco. One such pioneer was California gold miner, saloonkeeper and grape-grower, Abel McFarland. In 1872, McFarland purchased land north of Napa along the Silverado trail and planted vineyards.

During prohibition, the property exchanged hands several times until 1968 when it was sold to Harry See (of See’s Candy fame) who named it Silverado Vineyard and planted Cabernet. The vineyard is situated in the area now known as Stags Leap District, legendary for its Cabernet.

Ten years later, Silverado purchased the site and extraordinary vineyard – which is where we source the grapes for our SOLO Cabernet. Each year we select distinctive blocks of a special field selection from this same vineyard and create a one-of-a-kind, single-vineyard Cabernet in Abel’s honor.

The 2017 Cherryblock is a wine of great complexity, intricacy and sophistication. In the glass, the wine is deep purple with ruby highlights, and others intense, concentrated aromas of blackberry, vanilla and baking spices. Waves of rich black fruit wash over the palate, with complex layers of cedar and tobacco. The finish is framed by full soft tannins and lingering notes of herbs and spice.
