The 2018 Cherryblock is a wine of great complexity, intricacy and sophistication. This Chairman Series wine is made from our best Cabernet Sauvignon block on the estate. It is a bold wine with layers of roasted spiced plum flavors and hints of cocoa, vanilla, and toasty oak on the nose. The lush tannin structure is complemented by smooth acidity that persists long after each indulgent sip. This wine pairs well with prime or short rib, roast beef, venison or pasta dishes with dark meat-based sauces.

Our 2021 Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon offers aromas of toasted graham cracker, plum jam, butterscotch, and nutmeg. The wine has a fruit-forward entry, followed by dark berry cobbler and molasses, with well-balanced tannin and lifting acidity flowing through the long finish.

Grapes for this wine come from Knights Valley rocky and alluvial soils where a warm and extended growing season produces exceptional, bold cabernet sauvignon fruit. The 2019 Estate Cabernet Sauvignon captures the pure expression of our unique terroir at Lancaster Estate. It is a blend of four of the five of the red Bordeaux varietals we have planted on our volcanic hillside vineyards. The nose is rich with aromas of dark plum, tobacco and black pepper. By looking at its saturated purple-black color, you can tell immediately that the 2013 Merus is a powerhouse of a wine. The 2013 is a dark, meaty, fruit-saturated, syrupy mouthful, with swarming aromas of blackberry, crushed violet and beef fat. The mouth follows suit with a powerful entrance of dark fruit. Since it is bone-dry and was fermented at low temperatures, this is an absolute reflection of the strength of the vineyard, the beauty of whole berry fermentation, and the synergies that can occur between wine and wood. Typical to its Coombsville pedigree, it never feels heavy as it fills every corner of your mouth. The 100% new oak provides structure and a pleasing toastiness but doesn’t overwhelm. Decant for at least one hour in advance for maximum pleasure.
