The palate is rich and savory with layers of vanilla, spice, dark fruit and black tea. Dense and supple, the tannins are rounded by a balanced acidity and a long and smooth finish. Though appealing in its youth, this wine will also age beautifully over the next 15 years.

In 1877, German immigrant Henry Hagen purchased a Napa vineyard site and named it Cedar Knoll. This was the first vineyard to be planted in the area which would later be known as the Coombsville AVA. In 1988, Silverado purchased 170 acres of the site, replanted vines, and named it Mt. George Vineyard after the volcano which created the deep, gravelly soils and intensity of place that volcanic wines are known for. Our GEO Cabernet Sauvignon is named for and crafted exclusively from the fruit of Mt. George. Each year we select distinctive blocks of an extraordinary field selection from this same vineyard and create a special single-vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon in Henry’s honor.
