The Riesling grapes are gently whole cluster pressed, which allows for free run and soft pressed juice to be separated within a 4-hour time frame. The juice is chilled and decanted before inoculation with a Riesling specific yeast strain. Fermentation is arrested to allow for some residual sweetness to balance the crisp acidity.

Winemaker Notes

Aromatics of lychee, starfruit, and juicy white peach lead to a lively off-dry finish.

Production Notes

The 2020 vintage presented a mild and uneventful winter. Spring was very wet and stormy which lead to increased soil moisture that in turn increased canopy growth. Summer temperatures were hot and dry which lead to consistent ripening. The temperatures started to wane in the beginning of September which allowed us to pick at optimal ripeness.

Vineyard Notes

Bacchus Vineyard was first planted in 1972, aptly named after the Roman god of wine. With nearly half a century under their belts, the team at Bacchus, led by Lacey Lybeck, has been instrumental in the growth of the Washington State wine industry. Located on the east side of the Columbia River, 15 miles north of the Tri-Cities, Bacchus has a commanding view to the west overlooking the mighty Columbia River and the Rattlesnake Mountains. The sloping land’s elevation ranges from 550-900 feet, and soft rolling knolls keep Bacchus warm (not hot, not cool) with excellent air drainage. No wonder this unique place produces a cadre of beautiful fruit.
