2020 Lancaster Samantha's Sauvignon Blanc
Our 2020 Samantha’s Sauvignon Blanc opens with lively aromas of citrus, honeydew melon and jasmine blossom. The palate is well balanced with crisp acidity and a mineral texture from the partial concrete egg aging. Flavors of stone fruit, guava and lemon zest linger on the smooth, clean finish.
The winter of 2019-2020 produced average rainfall throughout most of Northern California, with the bulk of precipitation occurring January through May. Spring temperatures were mild and warm with bud break about two weeks earlier than average in Sonoma County. Temperatures during the summer were above average which led to early grape ripening and an early harvest. These grapes were harvested prior to the season’s abrupt end due to smoke from the Lightening Complex and Glass Fires settling throughout much of Sonoma County.
Food Pairing Notes
Enjoy alone as an aperitif or pair with grilled seafood and a fresh summer salad.
100% Sauvignon Blanc
The 2020 Samantha’s Sauvignon Blanc was cold fermented in stainless steel tanks, then aged for 6 months in 80% stainless steel and 20% concrete egg. This method allows for constant circulation of the juice and imparts a minerality and texture to the wine. The wine was then bottled unfiltered in April 2021.
