2020 Firestone Vineyard Reserve Chardonnay, Santa Ynez Valley
This is a smooth and creamy wine made from our premium Chardonnay block on the estate. Stone fruit, candied toffee, ginger and toasted brioche waft from the glass. The palate is lush and full-bodied with light acidity. Enjoy this wine paired with rich seafood, poultry, creamy pastas and cheeses.
Winemaker Notes
2020 was a notably drier than usual year for Santa Barbara County. Bud break began in March and mild temperatures carried through spring and summer, with the exception of short heat spikes occurring in late
June, August and mid September. With the return of mild weather, we were able to pick each block at the optimal time. Harvest began September 3 and finished November 3.
Food Pairing Notes
Pair this wine with richer seafood like salmon, shrimp, cashew crusted scallops, clam chowder or Bisque. Rich risotto or cream-based soups are ideal pairings in cooler months.

Vineyard Notes
The grapes for this wine come from 9 acres on our estate in Santa Ynez Valley. Situated at 1,000-foot elevation, this west facing, gently sloping vineyard is comprised of gravely, sandy loam soil from sedimentary oceanic rocks containing limestone and shale, ideal soil for growing our Chardonnay because of its permeable qualities. During the growing season, the fog sits right on top of our vineyards, creating desirable, cool foggy morning weather, with diurnal temperature swings of 50 degrees.
