2019 Grove Mill Sauvignon Blanc, Marlborough
The 2019 Grove Mill Sauvignon Blanc offers a complex array of Marlborough aromas and flavours. The wine opens with the intense tropical fruit aromas for which Wairau fruit is known. On the palate these juicy characters are accompanied by a weighty creaminess that hangs off of a long, citrus-driven finish.
The grapes were harvested during the cold of the night to avoid unnecessary phenolic extraction and to preserve primary fruit. Gentle winemaking techniques and cold fermentation in stainless steel tanks helped to protect the bright fruit characters. A small portion of the wine went to barrel for wild fermentation, the rest was racked to tanks for fermentation. Three months of lees contact gave the wine great texture and richness.
Food Pairing Notes
Enjoy with fresh seafood or Asian cuisine.
100% Sauvignon Blanc; 100% Wairau Valley
10% French oak, 90% Stainless steel
The fruit for our Sauvignon Blanc was primarily harvested from lower Wairau vineyards including our flagship vineyard, 17 Valley. Good soil and canopy management, cold nights during ripening, and a warm and dry summer kept all the concentrated flavours in the grapes which you can taste now in the wine.
