2019 Acrobat Chardonnay, Oregon
Fields of exuberant yellow straw come to mind when describing this chardonnay’s color. On the nose, a bouquet of notes ranging from ripe peach and key lime, to apple blossom and apricot, shine through. A clean and refined entrance gives way to layers of lime, stone fruit and crème brûlée on the mid-palate. The medium-long finish is fresh and held together by lively acidity.
The 2019 vintage was fermented in 100% stainless steel tanks, which were temperature controlled to maximize fruit character. We used 33% new French oak blocks in the stainless steel tanks to add depth and roundness to the wine. This wine benefited from sur lie aging for four months prior to bottling.
The 2019 vintage was noted for it's cool and wet September. This chardonnay was harvested early in September before the rains and attained that combination of balance that winemakers pursue: flavor at lower alcohol percentages. This chardonnay is grown near some of Oregon's prized pear orchards and we think characteristics of those pears can be found in this wine: ripe, flavorful, but with crisp acidity.
