2018 Sebastiani Zinfandel, Sonoma County
Available Starting March 22
Our 2018 Zinfandel offers aromas and flavors of black mission fig, Santa Rosa plum and spiced strawberry preserves. The wine is medium bodied with balanced acidity, light tannins and a pleasantly warm Madagascar vanilla tinged finish. Pair this with oven baked pork spareribs with a plum and apricot BBQ glaze. - Mark Beaman, Winemaker
89% Zinfandel, 11% Petite Sirah
September 25 – September 29, 2018
16 months in French American and Hungarian Oak
After a three-day cold soak, the grapes were crushed and fermented at relatively warm temperatures in stainless steel tanks. After pressing, each lot was blended or egg-white fined depending on flavor, color and tannin concentration. The wine was aged in two year old French, Hungarian and American oak barrels for 16 months before bottling in April 2020. A small portions of Petite Sirah was added the final blend for balance, aromatics and flavor.
Sonoma County is one of California’s premier growing regions for Zinfandel wine. The fruit for our 2018 Sonoma County Zinfandel comes from vineyards in Alexander Valley and Dry Creek Valley which provide plenty of sunshine that this varietal thrives on. Moderate cooling from nearby coastal regions result in juicy and fruit forward Zinfandels.
