2018 Roth Pinot Gris Reserve, Russian River Valley
Our 2018 Pinot Gris is a vibrant representation of our vineyards in the Russian River Valley. A bouquet of pineapple and mango lead to a well-structured, yet delicate palate with flavors of lime zest, apricot, honeysuckle and melon. The finish is round and refreshing with a bright acidity.
Food Pairing Notes
This wine is an excellent companion for spicy dishes, such as Pad Thai.
100% Pinot Gris
Pinot Gris / Pinot Grigio
Russian River Valley
Aged 4 months in neutral French oak
Our Pinot Gris comes from the acclaimed Russian River Valley AVA of Sonoma County with most of the fruit coming from the Chalk Hill AVA. Known for its cool, foggy climate that sweeps in from the Pacific Ocean and its alluvial soils, this river valley is an idyllic site for growing Pinot Gris. After harvest, the grapes were pressed and transferred to neutral French oak barrels where they were fermented with native yeast for added body and complexity. After four months with regular lees stirring, the wine was bottled.
2018 proved to be a steady and moderate vintage. We had great fruit set and a mild summer allowing the fruit to mature at an ideal pace. The end result was an abundance of high quality fruit with balanced acid, sugar and tannin levels. All of our 2018 wines display great uniformity and outstanding complexity.
