2018 Lancaster Estate Samantha's Sauvignon Blanc, Alexander Valley
The 2018 Samantha’s Sauvignon Blanc reveals an aromatic, floral nose that is characteristic of the Musqué clone and mingles well with mango, pear and citrus. The bright acidity is balanced with a layered texture and minerality that pushes through the smooth finish, and is complemented with flavors of ripe grapefruit, fresh peaches and lemon drops.

The Alexander Valley experienced another ideal growing season in 2018. The long season provided moderate temperatures for the grapes to ripen at the optimal speed. The result is an incredible vintage marked by clean, outstanding fruit characteristics with balanced bright acidity to sugar levels. Samantha’s Sauvignon Blanc was barrel fermented in our wine caves using 100% native yeast. The wine was then aged eight months sur lie in 32% French oak (10% new, 20% neutral) to add creaminess and aging potential. The balance saw 30% stainless steel, and 38% concrete egg which allows for constant circulation of the juice and imparts minerality and texture to the wine. Our Sauvignon Blanc was then bottled unfiltered in April 2019.
