Our estate west vineyard is a spectacular site with a warm south-facing slope perfect for growing red Bordeaux varieties. The rocky, porous volcanic soil challenges the vines. Yields are low, and the grapes are incredibly dark and flavorful. Cabernet Sauvignon thrives here. Our two acres of Carménère were originally planted as an experiment, but it has become a key player in some of our blends. In fact, this wine is composed of 73% Carménère with the balance being Cabernet Sauvignon. The 2018 growing season was one of the most consistent in recent memory. Mild spring weather led to a prime fruit set and ideal growing conditions.
