2017 Lincourt Rancho Santa Rosa Pinot Noir, Sta. Rita Hills
Winemaker Notes
As the flagship Pinot Noir from Lincourt, our Rancho Santa Rosa bottling embodies the essence of the cool
climate Sta. Rita Hills. The 2017 vintage displays aromatics of sweet cherries and dried strawberries with hints of
hibiscus tea. On the palate, this wine presents itself as a light-bodied Pinot Noir with a nuance of violets, Chambord,
cedar, and classic black pepper notes of Sta. Rita Hills fruit. Lightly toasted oak tones frame the fruit, providing
structure without overwhelming the palate.
Food Pairing Notes
The perfect Pinot Noir to pair with a savory mushroom ragu.

Production Notes
The fruit for our Pinot Noir came from our estate Rancho Santa Rosa Vineyard in the Sta. Rita Hills AVA. It was
hand-harvested and sorted in the vineyard prior to arrival at the winery. The clusters were then carefully
destemmed to keep the berries intact. Additional hand sorting removed any jack stems before the fruit was
transferred to small, stainless steel, open-top fermenters. The juice and skins were cold-soaked for four days
prior to fermentation and then gently punched down for several days. After primary fermentation was complete,
the new wine was drained and the skins were gently pressed.
Vineyard Notes
The 2017 growing season started off bold with unseasonably early bud break. Overall the growing season
temperatures were moderate to cool, rendering moderate and uniform berry set. As harvest approached, Mother
Nature delivered extremely warm temperatures which cued the start of harvest on August 31. Harvest wrapped up
October 16 resulting in moderate yields and full flavor development.
