2017 Foley Sonoma Old Vine Sceales Vineyard Grenache, Alexander Valley
Winemaker Notes
Our newest addition to our line-up, this Old Vines Grenache stands out
quite nicely once poured into the glass. Grenache is a red varietal that
originated from Spain; it loves warmer weather and has a palate of dark red
fruits with a flair of spice that is simply mouthwatering. Our 2017 Old
Vines Grenache has bright raspberry, red cherry and a hint of white pepper.
Wild strawberry accompanies the smooth, spicy finish.

Production Notes
Harvest 2017 was an excellent vintage in the Alexander Valley. A relatively
cool ripening season in August was followed by a four-day, 115 degree heat
spike, which pushed all fruit that was on the fringes of ripeness well into
full maturity. Luckily, grape quality was not compromised, and once the
fruit arrived, it was fantastic to work with. Although the heat spike was
much maligned at the time, all of our fruit, aside from a single block of
Cabernet Franc, was in and processed by the time the fires hit at the
beginning of October.
Vineyard Notes
The grapes for this delightfully bright and juicy wine come from our
Alexander Valley neighbors, the Sceales, who we are proud to work with on
this luscious wine. The Old Vines Sceales Vineyard is located next to our
estate vineyards to the south and are between 65-70 years old. We cherish
every grape with vines as old as these, and we are excited to share this new
offering from Foley Sonoma with you.
