2017 Foley Sonoma Estate Cabernet Sauvignon, Alexander Valley
Winemaker Notes
The vineyards of Foley Sonoma lie in the heart of our estate in the Alexander Valley. Our Cabernet Sauvignon vines are planted in rich soil that supports the 337 clone. These vines were planted on our estate in the early 2000’s. After harvest, the fruit was fermented in French oak barrels (40% new) and aged for 22 months. A percentage of Petit Verdot was added to the final blend for enhanced aromas and texture.

Vineyard Notes
Harvest 2017 was an excellent vintage in the Alexander Valley. A relatively cool ripening season in August was followed by a four-day, 115 degree heat spike, which pushed all fruit that was on the fringes of ripeness well into full maturity. Luckily, grape quality was not compromised, and once the fruit arrived, it was fantastic to work with. Although the heat spike was much maligned at the time, all of our fruit, aside from a single block of Cabernet Franc, was in and processed by the time the fires hit at the beginning of October.
