2017 Eos Reserve Chardonnay, Santa Ynez Valley
Winemaker Notes
Our Reserve Chardonnay is made to be the best expression of any given
vintage. For 2017, it exudes aromas of red apples, melon and lemon zest.
The palate brings forth flavors of pear, citrus, honeydew and toasted brioche
all wrapped up by a balanced acidity. A lingering minerality leaves you
going in for another sip.

Production Notes
2017 was marked by its heavy rainfall, heat spikes in summer, and high quality
fruit. Winter rains replenished the soils leading up to budbreak. Temperatures
throughout spring and early summer were moderate, resulting in slow even
ripening. A heat spike at the end of August – early September propelled us
into harvest. We began picking the fruit on August 31st through November
3rd, 2017 at optimal maturity.
Vineyard Notes
Over the past two decades the Santa Ynez Valley has emerged as one of the
most celebrated winegrowing regions in California. Formed by the Purisima
Hills and San Rafael Mountains to the north and the Santa Ynez Mountains
to the south, it is the largest AVA in Santa Barbara County. The cool, western
portion of the Santa Ynez Valley is well suited to Chardonnay and Pinot Noir
while the warmer eastern section is home to aromatic whites such as Viognier,
Roussanne, Grenache, and Sauvignon Blanc as well as bold reds including
Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot.
