2017 Chalk Hill Chairman's Syrah, Sonoma County
Our 2017 Chairman’s Club Syrah presents aromas of dark berries, wild game and black tea. On the palate, indulgent flavors of dark chocolate, clove, vanilla and boysenberry jam delight the senses. This wine is big, offering an inky color and layers of rich, dense characters melding seamlessly with silky tannins.
2017 began with heavy rains in winter, which reinvigorated the vineyards going into bud break. The region had sunny days throughout the spring and summer, and a heat spike in August which propelled the harvest schedule.
