2016 Sebastiani Zinfandel, Dry Creek Valley
Winemaker Notes
Our 2016 Dry Creek Valley Zinfandel is deep red in color with juicy
black plum, and peppery spice on the nose. On the palate, ripe dark
fruit flavors shine with an added complexity of vanilla and clove
provided by the oak aging. Lingering flavors of brambly fruit and rustic
Zinfandel are framed by soft tannins on the finish. This wine can be
enjoyed now but will age nicely for about three to five years.

Production Notes
2016 produced exceptional quality fruit in Dry Creek Valley. Warm
temperatures in late winter and early spring pushed bud break ahead of
schedule. The summer months were moderately warm with few heat
spikes. We came in at the low end of average yields producing
concentrated fruit. Overall, the mild season gave us wines of ample
ripeness and great complexity. After harvest, the fruit was cold soaked to enhance the color and ?avor
while avoiding harsh tannins. The individual logs were racked once and
put into a combination of new Gamba French oak (40%), and one-and
two-year-old American and Hungarian oak barrels for 11 months. The
wine was bottled in January 2018.
Vineyard Notes
The Dry Creek Valley is home to some of California’s most definitive
Zinfandel. The gently sloping hills, terra rossa soil, and mild climate
make it the perfect locale for this varietal. Our 2016 Zinfandel was
sourced from the Comstock Vineyard in the heart of Dry Creek Valley.
