Elegant aromas of raspberry, clove and toast. Medium bodied with juicy cherry fruit at the forefront accented by a hint of vanilla and spice. Flavors of ripe fruit and sweet vanilla integrate with a lively acidity and soft tannins.

Winemaker Notes
The 2016 Robert’s Pinot Noir is a remarkable expression of the Carneros vineyard. Dark garnet in color, elegant aromas of raspberry, clove and toast emerge with each swirl. The palate is medium bodied with juicy cherry fruit at the forefront accented by a hint of vanilla and spice. Lingering flavors of ripe fruit and sweet vanilla integrate with a lively acidity and soft tannins on the finish. - David Nakaji, Winemaker

Production Notes
All lots were de-stemmed gently to preserve the whole berries. We cold soaked for an average of three days before inoculation. During fermentation, the wine was pumped over its skins two to three times a day in closed top stainless steel tanks. Press fractions were kept separate and fined to remove any harsh or raisin-like flavors. Each lot was then transferred into French oak barrels and aged for 14 months until bottling.
Vineyard Notes
Robert’s Vineyard is located in the cool, windy Carneros AVA at the southern end of Sonoma County. The site features gently rolling hills and unfettered exposure to the morning fog and strong afternoon breezes that help define the region. Our 2016 combines fruit from the two finest blocks on the property. The final blend is composed of 50% Clone #32, 44% Clone #4 (Pommard), and 6% Clone 115. 2016 produced exceptional quality fruit in Carneros. Warm temperatures in late winter and early spring pushed bud break ahead of schedule. A little unsettled weather during berry set led to some reduced yields, but overall we came in at the low end of average. The summer months were moderately warm with few heat spikes. Overall, the mild season gave us wines of ample ripeness and great complexity.
