Winemaker Notes
At Roth Estate, we believe great wine begins with great fruit and the relationship between terroir, rootstock, clone and vineyard is at the heart of it. That’s why for our Pinot Noir we choose fruit from the finest vineyards in the Sonoma Coast region. Our 2016 Pinot Noir opens with bright aromas of Bing cherry and cola. On the palate, expressions of dark plum, strawberry and dried herbs are balanced by silky tannins and toasted oak. Bold and complex in character, this Pinot Noir is indeed a direct expression of its Sonoma Coast origins.

Production Notes
Roth Estate is committed to making wines that best express the diverse and idyllic growing conditions in the top regions of Sonoma County. The vineyards that we work with for our Pinot Noir are situated throughout the cool-climate Sonoma Coast. These vineyards are defined by their coastal influence and spread throughout the vast region. The cool conditions caused by the fog and wind that breeze through the Petaluma Gap, lengthen the region’s growing season. These cool temperatures combined with gravelly, well-drained soil, make the Sonoma Coast the optimal habitat for producing internationally recognized, high-quality fruit.
Vineyard Notes
The 2016 vintage in the Sonoma Coast is characterized by its compact harvest and high-quality fruit. Moderate temperatures in spring were followed by warm summer months. This allowed for even ripening and balanced flavors. Cooler than usual weather in September slowed ripening, but the fruit entered the winery in optimum condition. Harvest occurred from September 2 – September 10, 2016.
