2016 Lincourt Grüner Veltliner, Sta. Rita Hills
Our Grüner Veltliner is composed of 100% Grüner Veltliner grapes, a popular varietal grown in Austria. Lime and white pepper aromas transition to peach, honey, and herb on the nose. This medium bodied wine has brilliant acidity that leads with nectarine and grapefruit flavors. Honey dew melon, wet stone, and almond notes fill the mid palate leading to the crisp finish.
Food Pairing Notes
Pair with grilled artichoke with a creamy lemon dipping sauce, or serve alone as an aperitif.

2016 was an excellent vintage producing moderate yields and highly concentrated fruit. Bud break occurred on February 17, followed by a cooling period which caused a prolonged bloom and set. Overall the vine canopy growth was much stronger than in 2015, as the vines took advantage of increased rainfall in the winter. The grapes came into the winery from August 26 – October 4, showing great balance and bright fruit tones. As part of the original Spanish Land Grant, the Rancho Santa Rosa Vineyard is one of Santa Barbara’s most historic properties. This beautiful south-facing hillside climbs from 500 to 1,000 feet above sea level. The grapes were hand harvested in the cool, early morning hours. After whole cluster pressing, the juice was cold-settled for 24 hours and then racked to stainless steel tanks for primary fermentation with native yeast. It was fermented to dryness and aged sur lie for 2 months. To emphasize varietal purity and regional character, malolactic fermentation was prevented.
