2016 Guenoc Chardonnay, Guenoc Valley, Lake County AVA
The 2016 growing season was early and of exceptional quality. A mild winter gave way to summer days that were offset by cool evenings. This resulted in complex tannin structure and bright acidity. Our 2016 Chardonnay boasts rich aromas of peaches and cream, fragrant yellow apple and a touch of vanilla bean. It’s rich and supple on the palate with flavors of pineapple, stone fruit and baked apple that lead to a long, smooth finish.
Food Pairing Notes
I love this Chardonnay for the holidays; it has impressive depth, mouthfeel and body which makes it a versatile food paring wine. Try it with butternut squash ravioli with a Beurre-Noisette sauce, fried sage and smoked cream. The citrus qualities of the Chardonnay with its concentrated fruit, herbal tones and persistent acidity make it a great pairing with the creaminess of the dish. This match emulates richness, texture & earthiness. Enjoy!
