2016 Foley Estates JA Ranch Chardonnay, Sta. Rita Hills
91 Points - Wine Enthusiast
The 2016 JA Ranch Chardonnay is the most Burgundian inspired of all the Foley Estates Chardonnays. Aromas of wet stone after an intense rain abound followed by faint hints of honeysuckle flowers best describe the aromatics of this wine. Lean citrus notes layered with bright acidity and notes of ripe pineapple and lime blossom round out the palate.
Food Pairing Notes
This wine's bright acidity would pair perfectly with the creamy rich contract of a selection of soft cheeses.
Sta. Rita Hills
18 months in 25% new French Oak
April 4, 2017
The grapes were gently whole-cluster pressed and transferred to tank after harvest. After a day of cold-settling, the juice was racked to French oak barrels. It then underwent regular stirring of the lees for added texture and complexity. All lots were kept separate throughout vinification and aging to ensure character, distinctiveness and quality. After aging 18 months in 30% new French and American oak barrels, the wine was bottled.
