2016 Eos Red, Santa Ynez Valley
Our 2016 Santa Ynez Valley Red is a 50/50 blend of Syrah and Grenache. Vibrant ruby in color, it displays aromas of cherry, anise, black pepper and tobacco. The palate reveals dark plum, mission figs and allspice flavors with a hint of dried herbs. Lingering notes of oak and spice persist on the finish.

2016 produced average yields and high quality fruit. Few frost spells in winter and little to no rain led to an early bud break at the end of February. A very good fruit set in spring was followed by a warm summer that kept the vines roaring through veraison and maturation. Harvest occurred from August 25th - October 13th, 2016.
Over the past two decades the Santa Ynez Valley has emerged as one of the most celebrated winegrowing regions in California. Formed by the Purisima Hills and San Rafael Mountains to the north and the Santa Ynez Mountains to the south, it is the largest AVA in Santa Barbara County. The cool, western portion of the Santa Ynez Valley is well suited to Chardonnay and Pinot Noir while the warmer eastern section is home to aromatic whites such as Viognier, Roussanne, Grenache, and Sauvignon Blanc as well as bold reds including Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot.
