2015 Roth Reserve Pinot Gris, Russian River Valley
Our 2015 Russian River Valley Pinot Gris is our first vintage of this varietal. It displays vibrant tropical fruit aromas such as kiwi, and melon on the nose. The natural minerality in this beauty complements its bright acidity and flavors of honeysuckle, melon and mango adding nuance and depth. Its refreshing flavors of sweet grapefruit and kiwi delight the senses all the way through to the finish.

Our Pinot Gris comes from the acclaimed Russian River Valley AVA of Sonoma County with most of the fruit coming from the Chalk Hill AVA. Known for its cool, foggy climate that sweeps in from the Pacific Ocean and its alluvial soils, this river valley is an idyllic site for growing Pinot Gris. After harvest, the grapes were pressed and transferred to tank where they were fermented with native yeast in 100% stainless steel to capture its true varietal characteristics. After 11 months with regular lees stirring, the wine was bottled.
The 2015 vintage was marked by consistently moderate to warm temperatures throughout the spring and summer. Similar to prior years, it was a very mild and moderate growing season with little rain. Yields were lower than last year with high quality and concentrated fruit. Overall, the grapes came in nicely delivering wines of complexity and elegance. We harvested the fruit in the cool morning hours on August 18, 2015.
