Russian River Valley
September 15 – 17, 2015.
Aged 16 months in French, Hungarian and American oak, 30% new
The 2015 vintage was marked by consistently moderate to warm temperatures throughout the spring and summer. Similar to prior years, it was a very mild and moderate growing season with little rain. Yields were lower than last year with high quality and concentrated fruit. Overall, the grapes came in nicely delivering wines of complexity and elegance. We harvested the fruit in the cool morning hours of September 15 – 17, 2015.
Our Chardonnay hails from the acclaimed Russian River Valley AVA of Sonoma County. Known for its cool, foggy climate that sweeps in from the Pacific Ocean and its alluvial soils, this river valley is an idyllic site for growing Chardonnay. After harvest, the grapes were whole-cluster pressed and transferred to tank where it was fermented with native yeast and then racked to French, Hungarian and American oak barrels. After 16 months in barrel (30% new) with regular lees stirring, the wine was bottled.
