2015 Lincourt Zoula Nunn Chardonnay, Sta. Rita Hills
Named for Proprietor Bill Foley’s mother, our Zoula Nunn is the boldest of our black label series. The 2015 is a classic example of California-style Chardonnay with its buttery oak and vanilla tones. It begins with opulent aromas of cream soda and vanilla bean panna cotta. The palate exudes rich flavors of lemon curd, custard and buttered popcorn with an impressive texture from the French oak aging. The flavors on the palate persist on the lingering finish.

10 months in French and American oak, 60% new
March 28, 2017
The grapes were gently wholecluster pressed and transferred to tank after harvest. Regular stirring of the lees imparted additional viscosity and complexity. The wine was aged for 10 months in French and American oak barrels, 60% of which were new.
The 2015 vintage had above average temperatures and no hard dormancy. An early bud break followed by a cooling period created a lull in flowering and set, especially in the lower elevation blocks. Warm summer months allowed the grapes to achieve full maturity. Overall the grapes were high in quality with smaller berry size, cluster size and weight which ultimately translated into intense flavor concentration. As a result, the 2015 vintage is rich, complex, and intense in character. As part of the original Spanish Land Grant, Rancho Santa Rosa is one of Santa Barbara’s most historic properties. This beautiful south-facing hillside climbs from 500 to 1,000 feet above sea level. It features 59 individual microblocks delineated by terroir, soil type, elevation, grade and exposure to the maritime winds off the Pacific Ocean.
