2015 Lincourt Rancho Santa Rosa Chardonnay, Sta. Rita Hills
This 2015 Rancho Santa Rosa Chardonnay showcases the true varietal characteristics of Chardonnay produced in the Sta. Rita Hills AVA. An attractive nose of pineapple, honeysuckle, white flower and vanilla transform on the palate. The mouth bursts with complex tropical fruits, white peach and fig. This Chardonnay’s bright acidity is balanced by touches of sweet sandalwood and butterscotch on the lingering finish.

10 months in French and American Oak, 25% new
July 20, 2016
As part of the original Spanish Land Grant, Rancho Santa Rosa vineyard is one of Santa Barbara's most historic properties. This beautiful south-facing hillside climbs from 500 to 1,000 feet above sea level. It features 59 individual microblocks delineated by terroir, soil type, elevation, grade and exposure to the maritime winds off the Pacific Ocean. The grapes were gently wholecluster pressed and transferred to tank after harvest. Next, after a day of cold-settling, the juice was inoculated and racked. Regular lees stirring and 10 months in French and American oak barrels, 25% of which were new, added additional complexity of flavors.
The 2015 vintage had above average temperatures and no hard dormancy. An early bud break followed by a cooling period created a lull in flowering and set, especially in the lower elevation blocks. Warm summer months allowed the grapes to achieve full maturity. Overall the grapes were high in quality with smaller berry size, cluster size and weight which ultimately translated into intense flavor concentration. As a result, the 2015 vintage is rich, complex, and intense in character.
