2015 Lincourt Carol Ann Chardonnay, Sta. Rita Hills
Our Carol Ann Chardonnay takes its name after Proprietor Bill Foley’s wife. This gorgeous bottling opens with fragrant aromas of Kaffir lime, white flower, and fresh pineapple. On the palate, flavors of bright lemon and grapefruit melt into notes of creamy meringue and vanilla bean. Its bright acidity mingles with French oak tannins that linger on the finish. This is a great Chardonnay to enjoy with brunch.

As part of the original Spanish Land Grant, Rancho Santa Rosa Vineyard is one of Santa Barbara’s most historic properties. This south-facing hillside climbs from 500 to 1,000 feet above sea level. It features 59 individual micro-blocks delineated by terroir, soil type, elevation, grade and exposure to the maritime winds off the Pacific Ocean. The grapes were gently wholecluster pressed and transferred to tank after harvest. Regular stirring of the lees imparted additional viscosity and complexity. The wine was aged for 17 months in French oak barrels, 33% new.
At Lincourt we believe that a vibrant, healthy environment has a positive effect on the maturity of vines and the character and quality of our wines. To ensure the vitality of our land and the authenticity of our wines, we use sustainable methods in all of our farming, winemaking and business practices. The 2015 vintage experienced above average temperatures and no hard dormancy. This resulted in early bud break followed by a cooling period which created a lull in flowering and set, especially in the lower elevation blocks. The grapes were high in quality with lower than average yields. The fruit had smaller berry size, cluster size and weight which ultimately translated into intense flavor concentration. As a result, the 2015 vintage is rich, complex, and intense in character.
