2015 Langtry Sauvignon Blanc, Lillie Vineyard, Guenoc Valley AVA
The 2015 growing season was early, light and of exceptional quality. Mild temperatures gave way to warmer summer days and cool nights that garnered wines of complex tannin structure and bright acidity. Partially barrel fermented in neutral oak, the 2015 Langtry Lillie Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc is made in a sur lie style for added texture and complexity. Tropical notes of guava and melon lead to lemon curd and boxwood. On the palate, the wine displays a lush mouth-feel with bright acidity complemented by notes of guava, pear, and citrus zest.
100% Sauvignon Blanc
50% Barrel Fermented (4 months in neutral oak), 50% Stainless steel
Like its namesake, the Lillie Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc is unique. Located west of the Langtry House, the five acre vineyard is unlike most Sauvignon Blanc plantings. Its restrictive, shallow, magnesium-laced soils produce small vines, leaves and berries, and thus, modest yields for a vigorous variety. The fruit is concentrated and very complex.
