2015 Foley Sonoma OZ Zinfandel, Alexander Valley
Winemaker Notes
Originally planted in 1896, the Oz Vineyard is one of the oldest vineyards
in Alexander Valley and we are pleased to be able to craft such a stunning
wine from our friendly neighbors! The 2015 Oz Zinfandel has a distinct
spice and cherry pie aroma that is immediately apparent upon popping the
cork. The palate is opulent with dark, ripe fruit spilling into every edge
and tart cherry notes to help keep the wine from taking itself too seriously.
This wine will improve with age over the next seven years.

Production Notes
2015 was another warm year with one of our earliest harvests to date.
Yields were lower than the past few growing seasons, but the quality of fruit
was exceptional with concentrated flavors and balanced acidity due to
consistently warm temperatures throughout the season. The grapes for
our 2015 Oz Zinfandel were harvested in the cool morning hours of
September 4, 2015.
Vineyard Notes
The Osborn Vineyard, or “Oz” for short, is our northwest neighbor.
While very similar to the soil of our Estate Old Vine block, Oz differs in
that it produces fruit that creates a more earthy profile and boldness on
the palate. After harvest, the grapes were fermented in stainless steel tanks
and then racked to French oak barrels. After aging for 23 months in barrel
(40% new) with regular lees stirring, the wine was bottled.
