2015 Firestone Vineyard Riesling, Santa Ynez Valley
Riesling is a German cool-climate varietal, best known for its highly aromatic character. We blended in 4% Gewürztraminer to add an additional layer of complexity to the wine. This Riesling has a delightfully bright combination of green apple, lemon zest and peach. The palate is rounded out with flavors of mandarin and jasmine tea with a touch of honey on the finish.

The 2015 vintage had the warmest temperatures and least amount of rainfall in the winery’s history. Despite the lack of rainfall, the timing of the growth of the vines was perfect. Bud break began in the last week of February, and there were very few incidents of frost which led to a slightly earlier bloom. June was sunny and warm followed by warmer than average July and August months. The grapes were harvested from August 26th – September 5th, 2015.
The Santa Ynez Valley is located just two hours north of Los Angeles and five hours south of San Francisco, adjacent the cold Pacific Ocean. With the greatest concentration of wineries in Santa Barbara County - roughly 18% of its total land planted to vineyards - it is among the favorite weekend destinations for wine aficionados in the Central Coast region.
