2015 Chalk Hill Chairman's Club Carmenère, Chalk Hill AVA
Winemaker Notes
Mainly found in Chile today, this unique varietal originated
in Bordeaux, France and is a rare find in the U.S. Our 2015
Carménère offers irresistible aromas blackberry, cherry
liquor, black olive, anise, and dried thyme on the nose. Its
soft, plush tannins frame the juicy flavors of raspberry,
blackberry, vanilla and dried herbs for a full-flavored finish.

Vineyard Notes
Our estate west vineyard is a spectacular site with a warm
south-facing slope perfect for growing red Bordeaux varieties. The
rocky, porous volcanic soil challenges the vines. Yields are low, and the
grapes are incredibly dark and flavorful. Cabernet Sauvignon thrives
here. Our two acres of Carménère were originally planted as an
experiment, but it has become a key player in some of our blends. In
fact, this wine is composed of 96% Carménère with the balance being
Cabernet Sauvignon.
