2014 Three Rivers Svelte Bordeaux, Columbia Valley
92 Points - Jamessuckling.com
Each year we taste through every barrel in our cellar and rate them by color, aromatics, flavors, varietal and site accuracy, balance, intensity and complexity. The highest rated wines become candidates for Svelte, our flagship red blend. This 2014 Bordeaux blend is both smooth and full bodied. Swarming with notes of black fruit, floral, rich spices, toast, coffee, and dark chocolate layer cake this wine is sure to please.
Food Pairing Notes
The nice velvety finish makes this wine a perfect pairing with braised short ribs. "This 2014 Columbia Valley Svelte is super bold with expressions of dark berries, cocoa, cedar and vanilla. It coats the tongue providing structure and length. Pair with Braised Short Ribs over homemade pasta with cured egg yolk, pecorino Romano and roasted corn. The mineral and earth notes of the wine complete the smoked components of the Short Ribs. The Svelte’s deep fruit tones are heightened by the richness of the dish. Enjoy, and happy holidays!" -Master Sommelier

Aged 18 months in 100% new French Oak
The 2014 growing season was the warmest vintage recorded in Washington State. A very hot and dry summer led us to an early harvest. We picked the grapes for this wine between September 11 and October 3, 2014 when the weather cooled off a bit and allowed us to take our time picking. Overall the conditions were great for grape growing, specifically this powerful Bordeaux red blend.
