Exudes fresh blackberry, candied fruits, and sweet high-toned herbs in the nose. The oak treatment supports the flavors and provides a lengthy backbone. It has a juiciness consistent with the fruit flavors and tremendous focus.

Winemaker Notes
The 2014 Estate Cabernet Sauvignon exudes fresh blackberry, candied fruits, and sweet high-toned herbs in the nose. I can’t remember a more aromatic expression of the estate. The oak treatment supports but doesn’t overwhelm the flavors and provides a nice lengthy backbone through the wine. It has a juiciness that is consistent with the fruit flavors and tremendous focus. This is a wine to enjoy over many years to come.

Production Notes
We refer to this bottling of cabernet sauvignon from Kuleto as our ‘Estate’ bottling, even though all of our other wines are from the estate as well. It’s because it truly represents the entire property in terms of sourcing that it gets this moniker. We’ve planted cabernet and the other Bordeaux varieties in as many places as possible to take advantage of altitude, exposure, fog-line, and soil type to spread out the ripening season for flavor and structure diversity in the wine. No matter the vintage, the ‘Estate’ bottling from Kuleto is a complete and balanced wine because of the amazing diversity of this property.
Vineyard Notes
We in the Napa Valley have suffered an embarrassment of riches in terms of having a string of exceptional vintages in recent years. Starting in 2012 and continuing through 2015, each has provided near ideal conditions for ripening fruit perfectly. None, however, stands out in our memory like the 2014. For sheer volume of aroma and flavor in every variety we grow on the estate, 2014 is extraordinary.
