2014 Foley Sonoma Petit Verdot, Alexander Valley
Our 2014 Estate Petit Verdot come from two blocks on our estate vineyards. With plenty of exposure throughout the day, this hearty bottling showcases dark plum, cassis and ripe blackberry tones accented by dark chocolate and finely integrated French oak tannins. To maximize the already impressive fruit profile, we recommend decanting this wine for an hour prior to enjoyment.
100% Petit Verdot
October 7 – October 10, 2014
24 months in French oak, 30% new
2014 was another early and warm vintage in the Alexander Valley. This resulted in prime flavor development of the fruit to display its finest attributes. Overall, the vintage produced grapes of high quality, dense flavors, and balanced acidity. All of the grapes were harvested from October 7 – October 10, 2014 at optimum ripeness.
Our estate Petit Verdot vineyards are broken into two different blocks delineated by clone and soil type. The West block is planted to clone 2 on SO4 rootstock and our East block is planted to clone 200 on 101-14 rootstock. Both blocks benefit from even sun exposure resulting in rich, multi-layered fruit. After harvest, the grapes were fermented in stainless steel tanks and racked to French oak barrels (40% new).
