2014 Foley Sonoma Estate Merlot, Alexander Valley
Our 2014 Estate Merlot is abundant in ripe cherry, dark chocolate and bright currant notes that round out the sensory profile of this delicate wine. These same bright flavors carry over to the palate, where brambly raspberry accompanies ripe plum. Succulent dark chocolate flavors give way to rich mocha and a touch of vanilla, highlighting the ripe fruit and creating a long-lasting and enjoyable finish.

22 months in French oak, 40% new
2014 was another early and warm vintage in the Alexander Valley. This resulted in prime flavor development of the fruit to display its finest attributes. Overall, the vintage produced grapes of high quality, dense flavors, and balanced acidity. All of the grapes were harvested on October 18, 2014 at optimum ripeness. Following harvest, the grapes were fermented in stainless steel tanks and then racked to French oak barrels. After aging for 22 months in barrel (40% new), the wine was bottled.
The vineyards of Foley Sonoma lie at the heart of our estate in the Alexander Valley. Located just across from the winery, our Merlot vineyard has loamy soil which makes for excellent drainage and vigorous growing. These conditions coupled with the warm growing days found in the Alexander Valley help to produce concentrated fruit with plenty of green components innate to the Merlot grape.
