Intriguing minerality draws you into our 2014 Estate Pinot Blanc, as does its full body and unctuous silky texture. Filled with beguiling aromas of warm apple pie and floral notes this wine is sure to please. On the palate flavors of apple, apricot, Meyer lemon and nectarine come at you followed by round toasty oak.

100% Pinot Blanc
8 months of barrel aging. Fermentation in 60% neutral French oak barrels, 40% in stainless steel drums.
A very low-rainfall winter was followed by a dry, warm spring and nearly ideal summer in 2014 following the draught patterns of prior years. These factors resulted in balanced vine canopies, excellent fruit set and small, concentrated grapes. Due to the warm weather it was a very condensed harvest, grapes came into the winery a couple weeks early. The Pinot Blanc vines ripened their clusters slowly and evenly through the sunny days and brilliantly clear, cool nights.
The thin, limestone-rich soils of Chalone Vineyard produce low yields of grapes bursting with rich, intense flavors and impeccable balance. This wine comes from a 12-acre Pinot Blanc vineyard, called Puesta Vineyard that we planted in 1991, using budwood taken from a spectacular 1946 planting on our mountain estate. The name of the Chalone American Viticultural Area (AVA), like that of the winery, comes from the name of a tribe of Native Americans who once inhabited this isolated area.
