2014 Altvs Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley
90 Points - Wine Enthusiast
The Altvs wines come from selecting barrels that showcase fruit and pure varietal character that is more feminine than masculine within the context of the vintage. This 2014 is a singularly delicious bottle of wine with deep dark fruit aromas that lure you into the glass. It opens up to reveal classic black currant and berry syrup aromas. The tannin, acid, and alcohol are in such balance that wine feels sweet, though it is bone dry.
80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Petit Verdot
September 29 - November 2, 2014
2 years in 80% new French Oak
Vintage 2014 was about as perfect as it can get. The fruit ripened in linear fashion without the usual heat spells that can cause dehydration. The yields were just under average, the berries small, and acids high. Vintage 2014 combines the fruit intensity of the 2012s with the perfume and grace of the 2013s. 80% of the fruit for this wine was sourced form Bennett Vineyard in Coombsville, 20% from Darms Lane Oak Knoll. The fruit was harvested from September 29 – November 2, 2014.
