2013 Langtry Cabernet Sauvignon, Tephra Ridge Vineyard, Lake County
Winemaker Notes
Barrel selected, this is the best of the best Cabernet from the
2013 vintage. On the nose, this 2013 Tephra Ridge Vineyard
Cabernet Sauvignon displays notes of cherry, dark chocolate,
clove and smoky oak. On the palate the wine shows mature,
round tannins with cherry and raspberry fruit rounded out by
leather and cigar notes. The well drained soils of Tephra Ridge
produce concentrated dark fruit flavors and soft, mature tannins
that lead to a long, layered finish.
Food Pairing Notes
Pair with: CAST IRON SEARED HANGER STEAK
I love this full, deep red Langtry 2013 Cabernet on a cold, winter evening. The wine’s dense flavors of cigar
box, cedar, and baking spices complement its layers upon layers of rich, dark berries. What better way to
celebrate the holidays is there than sharing a rich, Cast Iron Seared Hanger Steak and great wine with friends
and family? It gets even better if you prepare this seared steak with a Shallot Gremolata, Black Trumpet
Mushrooms, and Thyme-Fingerling Potatoes. The dense fruit and texture of the Cabernet Sauvignon holds
firmly with the steak, and coupled with hints of herbs and spice, this wine is an attractive draw to the
Gremolata. I hope you will enjoy this savory pairing and have a wonderful winter holiday! - Master Sommelier

Production Notes
The high elevation Tephra Ridge Vineyard is the winery’s
premier vineyard. Perched on a mountainside above the Guenoc
Valley at the north foothill of Howell Mountain, the 35-acre
Tephra Ridge Vineyard has thin, gravelly loam volcanic soils that
typify the finest bordeaux variety sites.
