2011 Three Rivers Svelte Bordeaux, Columbia Valley
Each year we taste through every barrel in our cellar and rate them by color, aromatics, flavors, varietal and site accuracy, balance, intensity and complexity. The highest rated wines become candidates for Svelte, our flagship red blend. As you might expect, our 2011 is big and bold. The nose and palate combine dark chocolate, espresso, dark currant, dried Bing cherries, and assorted dark fruits. Muscular tannins and a dense, rich finish combined with lots of depth make this impressive wine mouth filling in every way.

2011 dealt us an unusual hand of cards, hard to read for sure. March through May gave us Central Washington’s coolest spring in the last 20 years! Not extreme cold just consistently cool weather. This was followed by cooler temperatures in June and July. August was seasonally hot and dry followed by a warmer than average September and a sunny October. All grapes were harvested between September 30 and October 18, 2011.
